My mom is a cat lady! She has 13 goddamn cats, I think, maybe 14. We live in a pretty big house that nonetheless is constantly dirty with cat food spread all around and the smell of cat piss all over. One of the few nice places here is my room, and that's because I keep it close so the critters don't come here. I feel embarrassed about people coming here. Now apparently one of the cats is waiting kittens, so who knows, we may end up with more. What can I do?

Yeah it works, I used to do it with dogs that wouldn't shut the fuck up at night. I git a glop of peanutbutter and put ibuprofen all in it. About 10 yo 13 would work on a dog, but with so many cats just dump a good ol hand full of it, maybe even break them up a but as well so it's easier for them to swallow.

So you wanted to prove my point? Spend some time with your mom. Eat diner together without the cell phones and have actual conversations every night. Do this or some other social interactions so your mom starts seeing you has part of her social unit again. Then you can have the honest conversation about reducing the number of cats where she will be receptive to listening. Talk with your sister and try to arrange some regular time where everyone meets as a family This will allow you to eventually move out without mom feeling abandoned. Don't kill her cats. Right now they are more family than you are. Reassert yourself as part of her social structure while encouraging other social connections and she may even start reducing cats on her own.

Cats live only about 17 years before they start dying from old age, Nueter and Spay the ones that already had litters and give the younger ones to homes that will take care of them? The problem about having that many cats is that it can develop into a health issue and she won't also want to agree to letting them go but you will have to convince her to keep her favorite few cats and let the majority go to better homes. Dumping them is considered animal abuse and they can consider it a felony if the number is too high. Just put a poster up to have someone come and take them and leave a number if they want to give them back.

Man this is my situation too, my parents have about 20 cats now ina small house, they say they feel bad for them in the winter an let them in but they can't afford to fix them all so they have kittens. ive had numerous arguments with them about this, my only hope is to move out but I still want them to get a handle on the problem, its sad they live like this.
