I chose #BlackLivesMatter because I think it is futile and senseless. The reason I hate #BlackLivesMatter is because if black people are that concerned about their lives then maybe they should go out and take the energy and put it towards building their own community back up instead of destroying everyone else’s.

In 2013, 3 radical black community organizers started a movement and the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter. It was co-founded by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi after a Facebook post by Garza with the words "Our Lives Matter, Black Lives matter" and so began the hashtag. The movement was started because the man (George Zimmerman) who fatally shot Trayvon Martin was charged not guilty.

#BlackLivesMatter is important to black people because they want to backlash "systemic racism." This doesn't really impact me directly because I don't live in a city with enough black people to hold a protest, but it does mentally affect me in a way. It pisses me off that these people think that just because they run around and destroy people's personal items and business storefronts, while they scream nonsense, is gonna change the world. I understand that they don't want to be silenced but the way to get people on your side is not to destroy their stuff. The black people have helped their movement prosper and even some half-brained white people have jumped on the bandwagon but all the #BlueLivesMatter and #AllLivesMatter people have suppressed the #BLM movement.

How I think this will affect the world is people are just gonna get more upset with black people because they are protesting for rights they already have. 61% of the murders in the United States are committed by black people. Black people are also killing each other at significantly higher rates than white people. I've stated already how it affects me as a person. I think #BlackLivesMatter is starting to die off and I hope it continues that way.
