Because they are fucking incapable of thinking of the broader picture.
If you ban speech that is perceived as an indication of one's bias, whether racism or otherwise, you enable that person to go on undetected and therefor unchecked.
I would personally prefer that everyone be free to say whatever the hell they want so that I am able to better gauge that person's character.
They're morons and they empower the very things they seek to destroy. Words only have the power that those who hear enable them to have.
