its the model 44 Fuckyourmother

STG44, commonly regarded as the first modern assault rifle

Correct

What's that thing on top of the barrel that is near the shoulder strap?

Gas tube like an ak has to cycle the bolt

The piston, right?

Are you fucking retarded. It's short recoil. That's a guide rod not a gas tube.

This is what you want

finding one of these is difficult unless you want to spend 3-5k on a build

the stg 44 was way better.
>better accuracy
>harder hitting rounds
>longer range

the mp-40 was like a thompson m1928a1
>good in close combat like a house
>doesnt cost that much resources
>kicks hard enough to knock out a person within a good 50 meters (fuck u americunts use the metric system like the germans did)
>ur fucked with this rifle if you have to fight in a field and the enemy is more than 150m away, you cant hit shit on purpose

STG-44 in 8mm Kurz, the photo is a reenactment and not original though.

Back to /K/ with you /k/ammando.

Sturmgewehr 44, commonly referred to as the STG44 or MP44 (nomenclature change in German armed forces). The STG44 is often considered the first modern assault rifle as the weapon was developed with the mindset of enhancing an average infantryman's firepower. The things that classify it as an assault rifle are its select fire capability (semi or full auto), intermediate cartridge chambering, and ability to accept detachable box magazines. It is a tilting bolt action operated by a long stroke gas piston. That is the gas piston system and gas tube where some of the pressurized gas coming from the catridge being fired are directed into the tube to push a piston which will cycle the bolt back and a recoil spring in the stock will push the bolt forward, chambering the next round, and preparing the rifle to fire again. If you're interested in the mechanics of the rifle, this video will probably help you.

Nigger, short recoil requires the barrel and bolt to be locked together while traveling backwards from the recoil a short distance. The barrel on the STG does not move.

Thank you, glad I got a detailed explanation

I like the overall look but damn the ergonomics on that thing looks terrible

No problem, firearms mechanics and history are very interesting topics. At least to me, they are.
For the STG? The only real problem for the ergonomics that most German soldiers had with it was the sheet metal handguards that would get really hot during sustained fire or really cold during the winter. For more modern shooters, we would probably have a bit of the problem with the safety and the selector being separate controls in terms of ergos.

The metal handguard seems crazy both from a cost standpoint and a usability in the field standpoint. Would have thought laminated wood or bakelite would make more sense. The pistol grip looks really uncomfortable too. Stock looks decent. Seems like you could get a cheek weld going pretty well.

It is just crazy how much more design has gone into modern weapons and how much more user focused they are now.

I really don't see a problem with the pistol grip

Why is there a small dildo in the chamber?

looks like a piece of rubber or something. I've got the same question as you

Seems kinda at a odd angle and has no real curve to the grip. Probably isn't a big deal. I have large hands and want a pretty fat and curved grip. That's why I really cant stand most subcompact semi automatic pistols.
H&K VP9SK is a grip I can get behind.

Modern weapons have really become tailored to the end user. The fact that a massive company like Magpul can exist just by selling firearms accessories really shows how far firearms have come. As for the STG, you have to remember its development and production took place during WWII and not early war either so German industry was starting to get hampered by lack of resources and Allied bombing. The delay to introduce a new piece of furniture on the STG would probably have been seen as unacceptable as German forces wanted as many of these guns on the Eastern Front that can be made as quickly as possible to help try to turn the tide. That and the STG was not made with longevity in mind.

For added irony when liquidating homosexuals

Isnt that a gewher or some nazi german sounding shit of the sort?

Makes sense. I imagine the germans got some serious tough hands from the barrel burns after 4 mags run through that thing

i KNOW for a fact you looked at other user's replies to sound smart but you're a dumbass

You also KNOW for a fact that you’re fucking retarded and autistic.

That being said i only read the first 2 replies, and the picture reminded me of another gun in CoD waw. Thats where i got the name from

Either that or they had to wear gloves whenever using it. Although German usage seems that semi auto was mostly used as German ammo and magazine production never could keep up with demand so most guys got like two mags to work with.
