they don't care that you watch porn.
Yes, use a VPN if you're self-conscious about masturbating furiously to Nazrin's lewd naked body
Use tor or a VPN then. Seems like a problem a college student should be able to solve.
Is that a Siberian mouse?
Theoretically, I can see other posts from people in the building because we're on the same network?
Like if I'll see (you)s in thread I haven't personally posted in?
No, you's are done by storing information client side. No one should be able to see what data you are sending and receiving from a website if TLS is enabled. However, they will know what DNS requests you make
Yes but they dont give a shit about porn. They just fuck you up if you torrent shit.
As long as you don't look at risque shit you should be fine
Some guy at my school got arrested for downloading loli porn
So I can't open Yea Forums then right? Does your browser downloading thumbnails count?
>Do colleges monitor internet?
of course. what concerns me the most is that you're in college and this fucking stupid? wow. your education system is fucking embarrassing.
Legally usually not but you never know what university policy is. You can use ublock to filter out stuff that'll get you in trouble (and leave exceptions that wont), like this
||boards.Yea Forums.org
@@wg
@@bant
@@pol
@@boards.Yea Forums.org/t/
Guess I can't make threads with lewd pictures now too
Yes, and some will even shame you for using too much internet. These dorms usually want you to pay for your own internet connection, which should be private but maybe use a VPN anyway just in case.
Yes.I have a suggestion, but I genuinely hope you get caught.
good.
Of course they do, idiot. Don't torrent or look at pedo shit.
American? I thought lewding loli pictures were kosher.
I heard about a Chinese guy in Canada getting probation, but he was importing copious amounts of physical doujins.
Lol I looked at loli shit all the time at my uni on their wifi without vpn.
So it's not wise to upload porn/hentai pics on Yea Forums then while on campus. damn
what am i gonna do all day...
You could always try for a 3D girlfriend.
They can't know what you saw or uploaded if you use https and didn't add an exception for any TLS certificate they tried to inject.
The most they can know is the domain of the site you went to, they don't even know the full url.
Post some of your sankaku favourites
Just the links
>You could always try eating literal shit
If your collect is in the US, yes, they all have legally mandated NSA blackrooms since 9/11 gave the gov't to carte blanche to grab rights willynilly. The solution is already explained in the thread.
t. Previous college IT employee
There’s prolly logs that show what website you’re going to but no one is going to bother going through those. They really only care about
1.) You torrenting on the network
2.) You getting a virus on the network
The fact that nobody responded to this post proves how dead this board is
So other than website names, they don't see, for example, the pictures I upload to Yea Forums or 2D porn I view on sankaku? Some if it is a bit risky but it's not real
Can they see more than the hostname when it's over HTTPS?
This site more like. Makes me sick
How about instead of asking retarded fucking questions you actually do what would be expected of someone who feels they belong on a technology board, and do some fucking research? Why the fuck are you even doing shit on a connection you don't understand you normie fuck?
It'd be too cold, the attire is all wrong.
Of course they do. You are sending packets through their network. Do you think you animoo upload magically sidesteps their switches somehow..?
Fell free to fuck off grampa. No one gives a fuck about your nostalgia.
Go away newfag
Not him, but I live in a dorm right now and it's the first time I'm away from home. I want to go to the same websites I used to at home, here. Like 2d porn and Yea Forums.
So you're saying someone could have seen me upload the OP image? And they know exactly who in the building did it?
Look up what https is you fucking retard and learn how public key encryption works.
Just because a packet goes through their network doesn't mean they can read it.
I won't, and you can't make me.
>So you're saying someone could have seen me upload the OP image? And they know exactly who in the building did it?
Do you even know what a MAC address is faggot?
Excuse me but what have MAC addresses got to do with this, fucking retard?
>I want to go to the same websites I used to at home, here. Like 2d porn and Yea Forums.
You should be fine as long as you aren't looking at illegal material. A lot of 2D stuff is unlicensed anyway so they can't really come after you with the copyright dogs. Yea Forums is nonsense to them. Just don't run any torrents or other filesharing without your VPN going first.
Just because other people are on the same network doesn't mean they're using the same device, which they'd have to be doing for that to happen. If you can't figure that out then maybe college isn't the best place for you
Oh, I don't know, it's only one of several ways for an admin to pinpoint exactly which computer in a building did something. Nothing important I guess.
> "It's not real"
This is why people who look at hentai are considered pedos. Jesus fuck man
MAC address is a unique identifier idiot
>There's a very, very small chance some random IT admin in your college knows you look at hentai.
>They know you and several other 100 students use the network to look at weird anime porn.
>Everything's still perfectly legal and there's virtually no chance you'll ever even be publicly shamed for it.
So what's your problem again?
>Those tits
I'm fucking cumming!
You can't see (you)s, but you will see IP bans.
It's always fun to go to a new dorm and see what bans have been lifted and from how long ago.
>1.) You torrenting on the network
I did this all the time and never had a problem, even though the school was constantly publicizing anti-piracy stuff and I started hearing people advise against torrenting because they knew a guy who got caught at orientation... Just don't download major Hollywood shit from public trackers and enable encryption.
Yes, through the SNI. Sites on cloudflare like this one support ESNI, if you set it up correctly. Every once in a while the support is fucked up and I briefly get an error message and my browser won't connect until SNI works again.
Your dorm doesn't give you your own public IP? Mine definitely did, I think even for ipv4.
kek
>Yes, through the SNI.
I looked this up and they can only see the hostname. So basically nothing that DNS doesn't already reveal.
And you're not already using dnscrypt or dns over tls or dns over https? Noob.
My question was whether they can see more than the hostname and they can't so I'm done here.
I've been meaning to setup DNS over TLS/HTTPS but I just haven't gotten around to it.
Pretty much this. If you don’t do either of these, colleges don’t give two shits about what you do
>My question was whether they can see more than the hostname and they can't so I'm done here.
Why on earth can't you figure it out yourself? All you need to do is look it up or open wireshark. Fucking newfags.
Revealing SNI can be pretty bad for privacy if you visit a lot of sites and don't just use common services everyone uses like google. After than 4channel split, someone can slightly narrow down what boards you use from the SNI. Some sites like blogspot put every single section on a separate subdomain, so your ISP can know exactly what blogs you read.
Generally they don't pay attention to your Internet history unless you're eating up bandwidth like a motherfucker. Policies may vary from university to university, however.
Why do that when I can get the information out of you for free?
>certain combination of colored pixels are illegal
why is this allowed
the jewdicial system
Since there is https, they shouldn't see which board you are browsing.
Because those pixels represent underage folk.
https makes the actual content unintelligible to a 3rd party so you’ll be fine watching your lolis or whatever as long as it’s not infringing DMCA
Usually yes, everything up until the second you connected to the domain. But like I said, no one tets paid nearly enough to investigate one lone student/faculty just to figure out if they’re watching hentai or not
That’s also correct! In reality we didn’t give a shit until the DMCA copyright holder caught you in a swarn and linked it to the uni’s internet.
I never went to college and I cant even remember being 18
inb4 personal blog but i just cant relate to you op
>1.) You torrenting on the network
What about those scummy all download, no upload clients?
ripeage*
prisonage*
Not him, but I wouldn't assume that would save you from the college. It would be impossible to sue you for uploading, but if your school takes IPs from copyright holders and makes students who infringed take a mandatory course, this wouldn't help since the legal situation of whether or not you're uploading is irrelevant.
Same difference. The copyright holders have some method employed to detect when you’re downloading/uploading their material (probably just chilling in the swarm looking at IPs) and will send one of the IT teams info to help track you. It’s not gonna happen everytime but i would recommend against it after getting caught like once
Underrated
Mine uses a firewall and almost everything except the uni's website is filtered. even youtube and Yea Forums. they even filter out places like softpedia for "hosting free software"
>MAC address
>unique
pick one
I know you can change it, but OP doesn't seem to grasp basic concepts regarding computers so I think that's a bit far-fetched
Haha
Not just this board, the whole site
Yes, but you use a VPN so it doesn't matter.
I don't get it
More of a cat guy?
hai, though mouses are cute too
UHHHHH
OHHHHH GOD
OHHHH FUCCCKKKK
OHHH YEAAHHHH
IM COOOOOOOOOMINGGGGGGGG
AHHHHHHHHH
As long as you use https you have nothing to fear, they can only see that you're browsing porn, but not what kind of porn.
>futanari
I hope you get caught
Probably only if you visit a site they have flagged as dangerous in some way.
Just think about how many people are on their internet at any given moment, how many people would they need to then monitor every fucking site or program they use and shit?
>Probably only if you visit a site they have flagged as dangerous in some way.
Soon that will include Yea Forums, if it doesn't already. Enable ESNI.
Just use HTTPS. Maybe they'll know you're accessing sankaku but they won't know what you're looking at.
We all know about your cooming habits loser
Holy shit, FBI, calm down.
I think they know the main problem boards. I don't go to /pol/ anymore simply because it's annoying, the toxicness was mildly amusing for a while but you kind of tune it out.
Chill the fuck out and have a nice tall glass of salty milk
They don't know what board you're browsing
But they can't tell what board you're on, only whether you're on Yea Forums or 4channel.
yeah, they monitor your connections. i worked for a university. but go wild. unless the .gov come knocking or you're tripping the IDS constantly nobody cares.
at the end of the day everyone watches porn so whatever.
Guess there's that, in any case not really my problem, just what I think they'd be trying to monitor, if they even do. As I recall the people they intercepted before they committed crimes were actually contacted directly as an online sting of sorts.
That or if they even give a shit about you they'd see if you've tried to buy a gun lately or something, at least that's my guess. Don't know what they use to flag potential persons of interest.
user claimed this post was a joke
"Haha, t-totally a joke guys"
Probably cause he heard "FBI, open up" from the other side of the door in his dorm
Fuck you, futa is great.
This is some advanced pedo baiting by the feds, innit?
How long before the van gets here?
yes, because they have to enforce CP and DMCA laws they are legally obligated to perform deep packet inspection, and they do.
If you're fine with going to Yea Forums using the dorm ethernet you should have no issues going to pornsites but if you still have concerns just use a VPN
