To a certain degree smoking anything is not good for your lungs. That aside, the more extended vaping damage is being seen in vapers that were not previous cigarette smokers. I think this is because some vapers do their vapes like their taking a bong hit rather than smoking a cigarette. The force of inhale and the degree to which particulates are driven deep into the lungs is a factor when considering lung damage.
