Here's a good metal record for a beginner, Metallica in general is a good band to get into if you're a beginner.
Highest selling thrash metal album of all time

Their entire discography is good to as beginner material. Hell even if you're not a beginner it's good.
Well it's a good record what'd you expect?
Metallica Black Album, a must for any metal head.

Try some calssisc like Metallica, Black Sabbath, Panthera and others. From newer bands I recommend you Slipknot, Korn and it you don't have problem with German language then you should definitely check Rammstein

Iron Maiden, OP.
Hard rock-ish metal. Great solos.
if you're truly a newcomer to metal, you first need to ask yourself what kind of metal you like. you can't just say oh i like metal and therefore every song in the genre is good to you.
do you like harsh vocals? fast? slow?
I think starting with some harsh vocals will open your eyes to what you should expect when listening to metal, even if you don't like it.

here's some OG death metal, some of the more consumable stuff in terms of harsh vocals. if you like this, keep going from there - that one song there is essentially all death metal from 89-95
OP here, already an avid maiden listener, Revelations is my favorite song of theirs

You're legendary
I wasn't into rock/metal until I played guitar hero, the first one for me was GH 3, ultimately I got them all, so I would say try listening to the soundtracks, there is so much material and different genres that are "easy" to new listeners. Some of my favorite bands now are: Megadeth, Exodus, Slipknot, Dream Theater (prog rock), Pantera, Judas Priest.
Call me normie if you want, but this album is really fucking good.

I know this is Hard Rock, but you should listen to this masterpiece if you are starting.
