that's a weird way of mathematically expressing the half your age plus 7 lower cound and age minus 7 times 2 upper bound formula. I think it's about right, although a 20 year old dating a 17 year old is quite the disparity in emotional development in my opinion; would not date anyone younger than 18 personally.

No. It’s a nonsense rule that men only subscribe to when they feel like they’re doing something wrong by lusting after younger, more desirable women. But they aren’t, they shouldn’t, and somewhere around 16-18+ will always be the right answer.
