Well, I suppose. It would be better to be able to hang out with people you immediately and naturally respect. I mean, you should naturally respect all human beings, even if they seem cringey. I can imagine anime clubs being filled with people who still have an adolescent mindset, talking for the sake of talking, speech laden with weak anime references and 4-year-old Japanese.
Unfortunately I think every fandom has a lot of those people and it can be hard to find a group of otherwise healthy (dare I say normal?) people who simply share those interests.

I enjoy going to bars, they can be a lot of fun. You just need to be responsible with how much you drink. And yes, you never really want to leave a drink unattended and don't drink anything handed to you by anyone aside from the bartender. Having a drinking buddy is also always good.

i've been recommended i try some group thing, something with like games or maybe try a dnd group for the first time but i havent had the motivation yet to try
why dont you leave something on the background running for hours on end instead? doki doki would probably be a good choice

doki isn't weeb at all. It's actually a real game that just uses anime cunts. DOA is way better. I always keep the launcher running. Sometimes I actually start it and play around in it.

Well, first step is deciding if I want to play. Issue is, a lot of people that want to play, never did. So I'd have to run the game and teach them everything. That's quite a bit of effort.

it sucks when you teach people the complex rules of a game only for them to grow disinterested after asking you personally how to play it, i guess that's part of the risk you have to take when teaching someone something they might not enjoy
