I'm working and even if I wasn't I don't have the time to learn the game properly.

If it weren't for that, it'd be the thing I do for the next couple of months. That and CK2. And maybe HOI4. I love me some map painting simulators.

I think HOI4 is probably the best map painter though

because I'm playing dragon quest heroes

cause it's not CK2, the true best game. eu4 is just dumb conquest, like imperator

I never tried CK2, but apparently people love it because you can inbreed despotic retards or something.

You can also murder people over the smallest slights. Or for no reason at all.

Im a retard and its too long/difficult to learn

Because I hate Paradox's DLC policy. I'm not going to pay $200+ for a game.

Boring/complete absence of combat tho

People give Paradox a hard time about this, but what would you rather them do? Release each DLC as a new game instead?
If you look at the original Doom, the improvements Doom II made over the original were what? A new weapon and some new maps? Would it have been better to call it "Doom DLC" instead?

inbreeding is hilarious, incestuous devil worshipping is always fun. imprisoning a whole female side of a family forcing them to be sex slaves for your pagan generals

Well, if they released EU4 with an entirely different map and cultures every 2 years, that would be equivalent to Doom and Doom 2. The DLC they put out doesn't seem to be worth the money when considering the work that goes into it. People will pay it beause there's just no competition in the GSG arena.

People should think of GSG paradox games like having a model train hobby. Gonna get expensive.

I like HOI4 and Stellaris because it's pretty easy to set up well defined defensive lines, defense in depth, that kind of thing.
EU4 more often than not just feels like a scramble to get my deathstack from one side of the map to the other before they siege down my castle.

That is the most retarded post on Yea Forums right now.
>Ships were funky since release
>Never patched
>Suddenly finally dlc comes rolling around
>10 bucks to fix your god damn ships pls.
>Hurr durr
>But it would be an entire new game
Fucking retard.

> Stellaris + HOI combat
OMG. Imagine instead of ship stacks you could create fronts like in HOI. That sounds nice as fuck.

kek someone's bitter they spent a grand on paradox dlc

i'm tired of games that take place in the middle east

because ive got 1200 hours in it and im pretty much over it

I do not mind that they publish so many DLCs for their games. I just think that they lock free updates behind a paywall and use it to make people pay for stuff that is not worth it. Just look at Art of War: Dealing with your subjects and allies is terrible without it. Shouldn't they just have patched that to make the game better?
Most DLCs provide very few important improvements that force you to buy it (if you want to play on the current patch), while offering a little fluff to fill out the list of features.

Most of my Stellaris games involve setting up strong starbase defenses at the choke points and then turtling while I build up my economy.
I guess I never learned how to play "wide" in that game properly, but I guess deathstacks are the answer?

Me I just spread as fast and wide as possible, growing the fleet size as much as possible. Hurts my research tho.

Do you think they'd make as much money off of DLC's using your approach? Game development needs to be funded somehow user.

why sell a game for 40€ when you can divide it in 10 parts and sell them for 20€ each? there will always be retards that buy it no matter what

Of course not. But I think they are over-doing it. Some things are just missing from the base game that should have been part of it, e.g. province development (or some other useful way to dump monarch points without going to war). But instead of patching something that was missing you have to pay for it.

Real men play Vicky 2

Just telling how it is. All these dlcs are retarded. I pirated most of their games. I only bought stellaris and even there I'm thinking about just pirating the whole game for newer dlcs.

They're taking some pretty massive backlash over Imperator. I'm not a good enough strategist to understand why it's bad, but considering the outrage I guess people aren't willing to wait 20 DLC's for whatever's wrong to get fixed.

This is probably true. Plus Vicky doesn't get any more DLC so people can't call it exploitative.

I guess they hired a statistician, and it came out that the way they do things with DLC maximizes their outcome. Sure a lot of people are going to pirate but the ones that still pay keep their wallets happy.

I'm one of the retards that pays, but to be fair I'm in a poor country and the prices are COMPLETELY reasonable in dollar terms.

imperator was my first refund.

gladly give pdx some cash just keep my incest sim working. like most of ck2s dlc is good.

>buying paradox dlc is for suckers
idk but the cost per hour played for me has been pretty good.
good luck getting a thousand hours out of catgirl fuck sim deluxe or whatever shit Yea Forums plays these days

I don't really know anything about Imperator so I can't say anything good or bad about it.
But personally I prefer their immersion packs (England, Rome). They don't offer anything you need to play the game and have a good experience. But if you want to enhance a certain country, these packs offer additional value. Pricing is a completely different question...
The DLCs just offer too few real improvements and too many features that should just be patches.

At this point I just wait for the successor and buy the older games on sale when they are done with their DLC.

Imperator basically had no functions at launch beyond conquest. At the same time, it had a million things that were 10% implemented and cocked up the game and made it unnecessarily confusing and the combat was awful. I did a near WC and still don't fucking understand combat. I just stacked heavy infantry in stacks of 14-20 and horse archers in stacks of 20-30 and raped anyone near me.

NOW, if there was a GSG game with catgirl fuck sim mechanics... I GOT TO GET ME SOME CODERS QUICK

I always wondered why Paradox didn't make more fantasy GSG's. I'm getting tired of looking at the map of Earth all the time. Is it that hard to randomly generate a world map like Stellaris?

They tried for the Americas in EU4. Wasn't really a success...

This. But thank god for ck2 mods. Also considering what a flop imperator: rome was I don't see them publishing anything new for some time.

Plan is to announce something new next month. A lot of people are saying Vicky 3 but I doubt it.

>Vicky
that series dead. new hoi probably

CK3 or some new fantasy IP seems most likely, considering they just dumped CK2+all dlc for cheap in their last sale.

>CK3
oh boy the fans will be pissed considering all the features they are waiting for paradox to implement there with a dlc but stubbornly refuse to. a new ck would cause a riot on the forums lol
