it could technically fry the whole wiring of a house

Except they do make those cords - you can use them with generators to feed power into a home (with no power, like from a storm) through an electric outlet if the generator is not hooked up to the breaker box like a permanent generator is.

Or you can steal electricity from your neighbor with it

As soon as you plug one end in the other end is hot. Basically making a taser type device

This kills the lineman.

Actually tbqf 110 isnt even that spicy

*electrocuting flail

Those are used for powered fingerboxes which are now illegal. I heard they're awesome but I'm content with my standard box

Yeah I have legitimately touched 120 rms multiple times without feeling more than a “wavering” but you get unlucky about how conductive the path through you to ground is? Fuck me partner

Experience is the best explainer

fuck off grandpa

Dude you haven't lived until you've tried the powered ones, so much more convenient. My dad had one of the first electric ones. I still have the casing, it works just like a standard now, but I remember those sweet childhood days and gentle hum of the box. Soothing.

you can get infinite energy with it

Attached: 400-4003332_166-kb-png-pepe-smart.jpg (920x562, 142K)

Yeah I've always wanted to experience one but I missed the boat when they were legal.

Kinda hard to steal it - gotta have an outlet, and you’d notice the line going to the other house.

Fucken homophobes

There's always supposed to be one side that goes into the other in such a way that bare metal is never exposed FROM a power source, only TO a power source.

Having said that, it's kind of fucking dumb. Everything to do with home electrics is fucking dumb. From AC to DC, different voltages, different AC frequencies (50/60hz), 3-phase is dumb, light switches are dumb. It's all so fucking dumb.

Who the fuck uses DC in homes?

Literally everyone in every home appliance. That's what all those little boxes on your devices do, convert AC to DC. All your electronics, all your shit. The only thing that uses AC "raw" that i can think of, is induction motors.

And even for induction motors, it's standard now to put a Variable-Frequency-Drive (make your own AC, with the right frequency/power/timing). So it's totally stupid and is a result of illegal information laws, as fucking always.

I only use magnets

No, those cords have 2 different ends
Only one can connect to the generator

Magnets and electricity are the same thing. That's why it's called the electromagnetism.

Home appliances here use AC - 110/120v with varying amperage.
What the fuck shithole backwater country are you from? Even Europe and China fucking uses AC.

amazon.com/Dual-Male-12-Gauge-Connection-Extension/dp/B0035Z13FI

no they don't. one end should be female, the other end male to stop retards like you frying themselves.

Only 3-phase generators, because when there are 5 wires it's like a hand with five fingers, and you can have left and right hands.

I know this because I wired up my generator wrong and instead of getting 240v i got 400v and my blender went into OVERDRIVE

Last time I checked, Edison, I couldn’t turn on my TV by plugging it into some rare earth magnets.
Dumbass.

See

It takes AC as input, but internally rectifies it to DC, with some amount of loss. Usually in the ballpark of 70-95%

If DC was supplied directly to your home, it would be 0% loss. Also you could get away with skinnier wires to your house and in your house, and save a bunch of money on copper. I think it's like 10% or something, so not that much, but meh.

Some bi5ch say muh name?

Will It Blend XXXTREME! Edition.

kek'd

currently unavailable.

any system designed to use a cord like this had been designed incorrectly, most likely by an amateur.

I rectified your mom... with muh dick

DC also is so lossy at a distance that literally would need power plants in neighborhoods to power everything.

Still a real product that is made, just because Amazon doesn’t stock it anymore doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Haha imagine beeng this nigger and using an electric fingerbox. KYS.

No that's a lie spread by the electrical companies and shitty science-news people. It USED to be the case (literally when Tesla was alive) that we didn't know how to change the voltage of a DC circuit without lossy/hot vacuum tubes, but in 2019 this is no problem. We can change DC voltage without any losses now. Most electricity is actually moved around at the national level using high voltage dc (google HVDC), then gets turned back to AC, then back again to DC in the appliance itself. It's that fucking retarded.

Everyone wants to jump on Tesla's dick, but the only reason he made AC was because Edison patented the movement of electrons and the government is so fucking stupid they were like "yeah that's fair".

Rectum-fried

do you realise how big all the localized rectifiers would have to be to convert it all to DC?

because you're not moving DC over long distances. this is fucking dumb and probably doesn't save any money or would be any more efficient.

>Do you realise how big all the localized rectifiers would have to be to convert it all to DC?

youtube.com/watch?v=m8rK9gU30v4

I know you really want AC to make sense, but it's technical debt

HVDC is not DC. DC power plants would be needed in every damn neighborhood.
That’s like saying a nerf gun and a Barrett M82 .50BMG are the same because they’re guns.

I've been zapped by uk power and Spanish power never us power I think it may be more dangerous in USA but not sure. Anyway most electric shock doesn't kill you it just makes you look like a retard pulling a face for a bit because the electric manipulates the bodies muscles and nerves.

HVDC literally stands for High Voltage DC.

You seem to have it in your head that DC is lossy over distances. This isn't true, and actually AC is less efficient because the voltage drops to 0 50 times a second. The reason you think DC doesn't work over long distances is because 100 years ago we couldn't up the voltage of DC to the 10,000+ volts needed for power transmission.

Now we can, and all new powerlines built for large energy transfer use DC because it's more efficient. We only keep using AC because all the infrastructure is built.

Doesn't want male to male ends... homophobes

That's sketchy China made shit that does not meet electrical standards in any prior country

Attached: Screenshot_20190913-182458_Firefox.jpg (1439x1500, 445K)

Something existing does not make it a legitimate product.
It would most likely be illegal to sell that in most countries.

they should make it and sell it anyway, let the dumb kill themselves

Did you read the reviews on that page.
Not only are the cords themselves dangerous, half the time you get one that's wired incorrectly

Why don't you start right now? I'm sure there's a candidate in the room you're in.

fuck off reddit fag

what, do you want one? I can't be bothered to make it but I can give you the instructions
you'll have to plug it in, and then stick the other end in your mouth
then you come back and tell me how does it taste
deal?

kek

Only a shitty house wired by morons. In my house it would just pop a breaker.

This. It's like imperial measurements we're just stuck with.

That's fascinating. Can you link to somewhere with more information on when DC transmission became possible?

I don't know the history of HVDC myself, but this Stack Exchange thread has lots of good info and one guy says he was working on it in the late 90s:

engineering.stackexchange.com/questions/19758/transmitting-power-over-long-distances-what-is-better-ac-or-dc

Most dumbfucks don't realize transformers work both ways. If you don't disconnect the house from the grid when using a plug like that, there will be high voltage on the other side of the transformer, which can kill a line an trying to fix the lines.

the big upside to ac transmission is the ability to use transformers to step up/ down voltage (and, inversely, current). current is what factors into resistive losses.

transformers have three non moving trivially simple parts: primary, core, and secondary.

DC DC buck/ boost devices are orders of magnitude more complex, and still require transformers, although said transformers can be much smaller since switching frequency is much higher. but make no mistake--EFFICIENT dc voltage regulation requires ac at some stage.

What's to stop the neighbor from turning the cable backwards and stealing your electricity?

good cord!

OK found some more info. It was first figured out by a Swiss dude named Thury:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/René_Thury

About 5 years after AC transmission lines were first installed. Oh well. It's not like the oil companies give a shit if people need to buy more of it.

How come I d9nt get lectric shocks when I touch both ends of magnet?

No it doesn't

underrated post

Because it's more like, when you get an electric shock you become a magnet. Briefly.

but there’s no spark

Why can’t I stick to the fridge then?

You're confusing "appliance" with "device". Anything with a battery uses DC and so needs a transformer. Everything else uses AC - TV,PC,Monitor,Toaster, blender, oven, microwave, fridge, bread maker, wine cooler, etc

lol ok nigger

>explain this to me?

Attached: 28.jpg (800x480, 268K)

Your PC is DC bro, as is everything else you mentioned except potentially the microwave. Fridge, wine cooler, all of that stuff is internally DC. Semiconductors can't use AC, else they'd turn of 50 times a second.

Wait a second the microwave has a screen so it has a computer so it's also DC, never mind.

That’s how you make diamonds

Microwaves are made of sound files

youtube.com/watch?v=9Lbmis-VUW0#t=4m50s

The breakerbox
It will die on it self

Microwaves aren't real
