Why are they not attacking handguns? Most shootings are carried out with them. Though in my opinion they should stop trying to ban guns and focus on what causes shootings because demonizing guns hasn't done jack shit and they say it's the guns fault, thats like saying we should ban water because shooters drink it.

Its the inch for the mile. It is not and never was about the shootings, it was always about the guns. People may say "hurr you cant beat the american military with your guns so why bother having them" but they ignore that close to 90% of the american military would desert if asked to attack citizens, even if those citizens rose up. The full might of the american military had trouble with urban warfare in the middle east so the remaining 10% would get laid out.
The government fears the people so needs them disarmed so an uprising never takes place.

The American civil war is something to take a look at. The government won in some part because of perceived moral superiority. They still have perceived moral superiority over us.

If you subtract the gun violence committed by gangs from just a handful of large cities US gun the gun crime stats drastically reduce.
