mage seems to be one of the easiest to play, for many many reasons. im kind of wondering if i shouldnt have picked a different class.... they can solo almost anything but the very hardest stuff, they complete avoid lots of inconvenience things every other class has to deal with (transport, food, stuff like that)
but mage was my first class when i started 10 years ago and i wanted to see what theyre like in classic, so its fun at least

well the usual archetype is high damage low defense glass cannon, which still sort of holds true, but if you know what youre doing you can trivialize pretty much everything. mages have so many slows and roots/snares most melee mobs will never get a hit on them if they play well
...which also makes the class pretty over-represented.

Yeah, having control over the battlefield or being able to just kill everything makes getting hit pretty difficult.
It sort of eliminates the appeal of any melee DPS class, because they can always be killed while the mage is usually safe.

well theyre only the best in certain situations, namely aoe dps and kiting, other classes do more damage or can actually heal, or this or that, but being able to do a lot of stuff solo that i really shouldnt be able too feels like im cheating myself out of the 'experience' or whatever
