The GOP is just as responsible for the housing crisis as the democrats. The blame truly lies on boomers. In the 80's when the GOP controlled the state the GOP decided that building laws should be set by the cities instead of removing building restrictions themselves. Boomers imposed building restrictions in their communities to keep their housing properties up and the rest is history.
