Ask me anything.
Just got promoted to manager for a very lucrative magic based card shop in Iowa. Been working here for 2 years.
Ask me anything.
Why would anyone care?
I make $65,000 per year salary + sales bonus and all I do is catalog pieces of cardboard.
Do you play?
I have one EDH deck put together that I play with a group of friends, otherwise I play magic online.
How does that answer my question?
Unless you're giving us some of that money, no one here cares how much you or wants to listen to you brag about how rich you are.
You asked why you should care and I gave you a reason. You might not like that reason but to me it's interesting to work at a place selling cardboard making paper.
What's the value of your collection?
How to make money in cardboard?
I have one EDH deck with Kaalia of the Vast as the commander nearly all foil, worth about $1,200
Are you manager at a very lucrative magic based card shop in Iowa?
1. Apply to card shop
2. Get hired
3. Be helpful to customers and fast at catalogging cards
4. ???
5. Profit
>You asked why you should care and I gave you a reason.
No, you bragged about how rich you are to a bunch of anonymous strangers on the internet to stoke your own ego.
No one here knows you, no one is proud of you or thinks or thinks your cool for making lots of money selling cards for children. If anything, you reek of insecurity.
Yes
Is opening a card shop in any way lucrative?
Yeah okay, I wouldn't call $65k/year rich but whatever you want to think.
Mayhem in Clive? Jay's cd and hobby? What major card shop is out here?
515 checkin in
Very much so, one of the best ways to stay alive in the business is to open in a highly populated area and uphold a very strict hygeine policy.
Letting your store be overtaken by sweaty smelly neckbeards who have no money is financial suicide.
Neither would I, and yet here you are, bragging anyways about how interesting you are for making it.
>thinks OP is rich
>being this poor
>being this insecure
lol looks like you care quite a bit
gaylord
Would rather not tell.
when did you lose your virginity?
Aww, is wittle baby user jeawous of op's gay ass job at a card shop
When I was 15.
Ever touched a woman that wasn't gross?
Cedar Rapids or DSM?
I used to play at battlezone as a kid, then they shut down/moved
I played at First Turn a bit in college, seemed like a pretty cool spot
I think he’s cool and I care
lmao nice samefagging, OP. We know it's you.
Yes, my wife is a decent 5/10
Can't disclose. My boss also lurks the chan.
there's literally two fucking lucrative MTG shops in the entire state retard
You're awful persistant for a guy who needs a reason to care.
Then guess which one.
does your shop have regimented and enforced hygiene standards? a lot of places in bigger cities are needing to do this now
if your boss lurks the chan you've already disclosed by even mentioning it, how many iowa magic shop managers are promoted on a daily basis you think?
Would you need a lot of capital to invest in opening up a card shop?
OP isn't the only one that thinks you're a crybaby faggot, bitching continuously in a thread that you don't care about
You're awfully full of yourself for someone who is on Yea Forums trying to brag to anonymous strangers about how much money you make selling card to children how how interesting they are because of it.
what edh deck
also, what do you feel is 100% worth investing in rn, I'm looking at purchasing duals in the near future.
Very, we have several employees with a high tuned sense of smell and we ask anyone with too strong of an odor that is unpleasant to leave and come back when they get the odor in check.
Are nerds really that stinky? I don't go to nerd gatherings so I don't really know.
I've heard Smash tournaments stink like shit though
Do you feel threatened by magic arena?
Bullshit. Just another autistic work of fiction
Is that catie hopson?
What is the wholesale cost of a booster box? How do you guys decide the markup on cards?
no most of them are like normal people, it's just the statistical population of nerds is more likely to be stinky than average, so when you get a bunch of them together in a big gay faggot:the gathering it smells more than say a timeshare presentation
no dude that's a poop
kek
It's a Kaalia of the Vast build.
Honestly the only things worth investing in are cards that can combo out, or that are borderline broken in gameplay. Also whenever a big reprinted set comes out it is worth investing in a box or two because you can usually flip whatever you pull from it for at least 2-5 times what you paid for it within a few months, even selling back to a card shop you bought it from. The reason being is because if you catalog and organize the cards you are pretty much doing to work for the card shop/seller.
Not really, people are still buying cardboard like mad.
What is the average age of Magic Players / Collectors?
Damn... you right.
that makes sense, I'm really torn on the singles/sealed market, mostly beacuse the temptation to open sealed product is always there.
with that being said, and with MH1 being print to demand, do you feel still that set is worth investing in? also what sealed sets outside of masters/supplemental are solid
Imagine being the dude that sees her passed out obviously inebriated and at her most helpless. And then just deciding to lay a big fat sloppy child right on her neck. She probably woke up in the morning in a fog, maybe even rolled over, and smeared that fudgy tummy monkey all up in her hair.
You’re seriously assblasted, why’d you even come into this thread lmao
Ahh gotcha. So do people actually get kicked out if they stink? Like how do you do that without totally humiliating them? Or do you not care?
For the amount my store buys we get about 50 boxes for $2,000 so the markup is ridiculous, we charge $80-90/box as they come out
What's your favorite Hearthstone card back?
Smash tournaments are notorious because you have a bunch of fat nerds playing a game that actually gets pretty nerve racking
kek nerds are fucking retards with money. Imagine spending that kinda cash on cardboard with drawings on it.
bunch of fat weebs farting and sweating. half of them probably just got done fapping.
picture the stench
picture it
Smells like neckbeard spirit
If you're trying to resell sealed sets you have to add up how much cards are total in the set as far as value goes, some sets have $100+ cards as they came out but only 1 or 2 of them so the set as a whole isn't worth very much. Even so you have to sit on a box for years to make any profits on it. I would say sets as they come out are definitely worth opening and reselling singles because of standard and brawl players pay out the ass to have new bullshit combos, whereas later the prices decrease dramatically unless the card is good in every format
what's the best deck in standard?
As much shit as this guy is getting the card shops in iowa are full of great employees. I've never had a bad experience and some of my friends play on the weekends. The crowds are neckbeards as you'd expect.
You literally have to humiliate them, people will not believe you if you pull them aside to say they stink.
I go up to people and simply say "your odor level exceeds our policy standards, you need to control your odor before I can allow you to return"
im sure the things you spend money on can be broken down in a similar way
you forgot to mention the levels of autism that would occur
why do you come on this site and pretend it's reddit?
red/blue is almost always the best in standard, green/black is second
Most of what I spend my money on these days is guitars and other music gear, which tends to retain its value, if not increase with age.
But to be fair, I do buy some vidyas too. Which are crazy overpriced trash.
brawl is fucking cancer, but i do appreciate the info.
youre a good OP
last 2 questions and ill pass out from alcohol
1) how do you feel about alpha investments
2) how do you feel about the sjw movement with the mtg community
Damn that's rough. But it's better than just letting them go through life all smelly I guess.
depending on the format you play in this game the cardboard with fancy waifu art retains value in much the same way
That picture is older than you
Retarded cumbrain
Unless you have lots of money to throw out and a good investment in protecting cardboard like they would a historical item, alpha is a risky investment.
The SJW presence is practically a minority in the MTG community, the company itself is pushing an agenda of diversity but most players either don't recognize it or just don't really care.
(x) Doubt
I mean if you buy cards directly, I guess that's fine. That's just collectible trading. But buying the boxes or packs is just gambling.
Plus, in 20 years, they're more than likely going to be worthless, because the meta has shifted or there's a new trend. My Les Paul is probably going to have doubled in value.
You are gay
The cards will still be worth money if the game dies, because in 40/50 years they will be a historical item of the era
But in all seriousness of course it still won't be worth as much as a Les Paul, it's fucking cardboard
is that why there are so many niggers on cards now?
I mean, if they get enjoyment out of it, I guess it's worth it.
But who doesn't think that pic related is a goddamn sex machine?
you're right about this, and i agree with you
but no one investing in magic is doing it through buying boxes. They're also not doing it as an "investment", you've got to subtract the utility you got out of playing the game you love out of the total cost.
anyone with faith in the Lord
