Magnet fishing fags
So today I was swimming at a creek that's by my house and I was thinking it'd be really cool just to pull up anything that dumbasses might have dropped down here and then I remembered that magnet fishing was a thing. (Basically just throwing a magnet into a body of water and picking up anyting metal)
Anybody do magnet fishing or anybody that knows about it that can tell me any information
I need some pro tips

make sure when u drop the magnet theres a rope attached
Best advice I can give is to make sure the magnet is tied to the rope before you throw it
These would have been funny if I hadn't post a picture with a rope
What sort of bait do you use to catch magnets?
Well this thread went to shit instantly
rope and a magnet don't mean anything, rope tied to a magnet is what you need so the joke still works you're just splitting hairs
Well, now I'm gonna try it in the local aqueduct. I know they've found abandoned cars in there so there could be other cool shit.
I'm really interested in it I've been watching a lot of YouTube videos the magnets are pretty cheap themselves and 56 ft of rope that's cheap and honestly the payoff could be really good or you might even find a gun or something like that the only shity thing is gold and silver they're not magnetic
I just don't want to pull up a bunch of trash, if anything I imagine I'll find a lot of tools I'll be able to clean up with some vinegar and sell them
Just remember to tie the rope before throwing the Magnet
It seems the best places to do magnet fishing are populated areas near rivers/creeks. It works especially above bridges. If you live in a ghetto area, you can pick up a gun and maybe even a rifle. For the most part though, it'll be trash
If it's an AK or sks, clean it up and will work like new
Haha, nah you won't find anything that grand unless you live in Detroit or St Louis, but an M14 is close enough.

They went scuba diving, but it was in a place that you could pick it up with a magnet. You'll most likely find pistols like these 2 dudes. (Kind of annoying, but skip through the video)
Well since I'm on probation I'll probably buy a cheap camera to record me pulling up anything I get from magnet fishing if the case happens or I pull up some sort of weapon I don't want there to be anything they can try and get me with, I live in northern Kentucky so there's a lot of creeks and they're very old animation I can pick up just about anything from the YouTube videos I've seen mostly it's going to be scrapped or it's going to be tools and road signs those are the most common things to get but if the case does happen where I pick up a gun oh, yeah I'll probably just call the police brother than that I'm really just trying to find profit but it's also a hobby that waste time cuz the only thing I have to do besides that is going to work
I recently f***** up my laptop with soda so I'm on my phone but whenever I clicked your links it was to the video I was already watching I'm really trying to do some research and as soon as I opened your link and went straight to the video I was already watching
I'm really drunk so I'm using the voice recognition on my phone but I imagine I'll find scrap but if I find any road signs I'll keep them if I find any tools I'll clean them up and try to sell them for a couple dollars and if I find any jewelry will then I'll turn around and try and make it a profit

Why don't you people stick to dumpsters?
You can actually see the shit before you 'harvest' it.
Yeah the camera works, GoPros are a bit expensive, but if you can find a cheap alternative to them and be sure to read up on your local laws, so they don't catch you on some bullshit law you missed, like not having permits or tresspassing or whatever. You will find a lot of scrap, and if you can sell that shit to a scrapyard and make a bit extra on the side.
I actually haven't done it myself, but I am curious about it and want to try it too. I stole a magnet from work but I don't think it's anywhere near powerful enough to pick up good shit from the rivers. I am also interested in metal detecting, so I hope you find some good shit user.

Dumpster diving is not always legal. Like trespassing and shit. People do throw away good shit all the time, but again, you can't always get to the good dumpsters, and besides you'll smell like shit.
And it's just watching these videos, you see them pull crazy stuff and want to do it too as a little hobby, like fishing. It's just entertaining to see what crazy things you can pull from your rivers
For about 30 to $50 you can get like a 300 lb magnet you tie a rope to it you pull up just about anything you want but some people throw away saves sometimes the signs that workers will just toss into the next bridge with water under it is like 500 lb but I mean I just want to kind of collect stuff and just whatever there is to find I want to get it I'm not a hoarder by any means but I'd like to just see what's around and where I live there's a lot of creeks lakes a lot of places I can really just kind of tossed my magnet in 2 hours to find stuff
And if I'm able I'd like to make a little bit of profit save up for the RV I want
I work by the water and got into magnet fishing cause there was alot of shit in the water. Just know if its a muddy area youre gonna need a strong ass magnet to pull stuff up and out of the pit its in. Its fun; I've found pieces off of boats and such.
Again I'm drunk and I just can't be fucked to.type excuse anything that might be censored or horrible grammar
I was thinking about along with a magnet I might get a grappling hook cuz if there's something I just can't pull up I can probably toss a grappling hook down there and pulled up with just strength
What's the craziest thing you've found and most expensive
I kind of plan on getting a magnet around 500 to 600 lb just cuz I know that like you said there might be some stuff buried but also if I'm about to pull up like a safe or anyting that might be interesting I can scrap
Like metal detecting you do it as a hobby but also for the profit
