Can someone tell me the difference between a linear ODE and nonlinear ODE? I've googled it but I still don't understand the formal definitions. Also roll

Getting rolledd

if you have an ode where the independent variable is t and the dependent variable is x (ie the solution is of the form y(t)) then a linear ODE is literally linear in y and it's derivatives. a nonlinear ODE will have squares, square roots, etc of y and its derivatives. if you dont know what linear means go back to linear algebra faggot

the dependent variable is y*
