I just found out why Canadian health care is free guys

>slowly developed suicidal thoughts unironically after many years
>lately it's been feeling more and more inevitable
>spend months finding the courage to tell someone
>finally tell doctor and completely break down and share my issues
>she brings in a poster for one of the crisis hotline advertisements
>tells me to take a picture of the phone number
>mfw

The same happened to me, lad.
I don't know much about the Canadian healthcare system but here in the UK the only other option is being prescribed benzodiazepines and so they try to encourage you to get through things yourself. Stop wallowing in self pity and start taking steps to improve your life without medical assistance.
It gets better Yea Forumsrother. It really does.

canadian healthcare is only good if you are not old or crazy. if you happen to be both, you're fucked.

Canadian health care is alright. Im glad i dont have to pay a dime for whatever reason. If its an emergency you’re taken right in

Had a similar thing happen to me user
>see doc for asthma
>got worse since moving to Toronto (go figure)
>get flovent and ventolin
>happy days, can breathe
>FF 1.5 years
>develop anxiety/mild bipolar over time, must be normal because big city
>bring concerns to doc - must be your sleep hygiene
>seek second opinion, try alternative treatments (CBD oil)
>see doc for meds refill - lolflovent, here's symbicort
>anxiety ok, bipolar worsens/suicidal thoughts start
>mfw symbicort doesn't play well with steroids (ventolin) and especially not with cannibinoids (CBD) and can cause extreme mood swings/suicidal behavior when mixed
>mfw the same doctor prescribed all 3
>mfw I have no face

don't see a GP about mental health issues, pal. walk in to the ER and be 100% honest that you are having a mental break. if your town/city has a mental health program they can directly refer you. it's not really the fault of gp's, since few of them have any real training to deal with mental health issues

take care of yourself, you hoser

family doctor isnt qualified to treat suicidal tendencies

Please tell me they don’t actually prescribe benzos (alone) for suicidality in the UK. I’ve heard horror stories about the NHS but that’s downright irresponsible and dangerous.

Ventolin is a B2 agonist, not a steroid. Also, ventolin and symbicort is a widely accepted treatment for moderate persistent asthma. It is extremely unlikely to be the cause of your mental health issues.

It's not free idiot.

Our taxes are through the roof to pay for it.

While that may be true for practitioners, the listed side effects of symbicort (provided by SunLife Financial) state otherwise.
Also interesting to note; my bipolar episodes and suicidal tendencies have stopped since I discontinued use of symbicort.
I've also reduced my CBD intake (nearly to zero) as my anxiety is now pretty much non-existent.

Again, not saying you're wrong, I may have just been that one odd case that doesn't follow the norm.

still cheaper than if u paid for each treatment

>Our taxes are through the roof to pay for it.

I wish that were true. The taxes are through the roof, but they sure as shit aren't funding what's needed in pharma.

I'm a murrifat who lived in BC for five years. Canadian heath care is great if you are a young man and you, say, break your arm. Pretty cool not having to pay that co-pay or deductible! If you get for real sick (like cancer), you may as well start planning your funeral. The older you are the worse it gets. If you are in your 70s you will be so far down on the waiting list for anything that you are basically fucked. Hospitals in Washington (state) are full of Canadians who are getting fucked over by """"""free"""""" Canadian healthcare.

Scratch that, I got hung up on your steroid comment. I’m a retard.

The steroid has nothing to do with it. However, the B2 agonist component can cause rapid heart rate that could potentially lead to anxiety.

Not usually alone (atleast not anymore). Tetracyclic medication is becoming slightly more commonplace since we were literally headed towards a huge benzo epidemic. Benzos are still the end-game solution though.
I don't think OP is even lurking anymore but on the off chance that he is; Take it from me, my dude. You really should try solving this without medication, those pills can fuck you up even more, speaking from experience.
Start lifting. Go out more. Speak to your loved ones openly about your problems. Maybe even change your diet. What you're doing right now clearly isn't working and medication will only numb the pain, not solve the problem.

interesting, thanks for the perspective. I have a blue collar job in the US and sometimes get anxiety about not being able to afford healthcare and have thoughts about moving to Canada for just that (just a pipe dream tho). Can you share any other thoughts about living in Canada vs US? how do you like it?

Isn't that still better than no public healthcare? What happens with a young person who gets cancer in America?

>I got hung up on your steroid comment

My fault, I mis-catagorized from the start.

>However, the B2 agonist component can cause rapid heart rate that could potentially lead to anxiety.

Interesting... I have a history of heart palpatations/murmurs, think it can be related? It does seem to match perfectly.

It's not free, it's paid for by your taxes and subsidized by US companies and taxpayers.
And if you want quality care without a 12 month waiting period, you'll be paying out of your own pocket for a private doctor.

This

As another murrifat living in Toronto (from Jew York originally), I can verify Healthcare here is great if you're young, it's a one off, and doesn't require extensive care.
Age, complexity of condition, and longevity of condition absolutely effect the quality of care.
