Basically just moved up here for college and to keep things cheap. Rent, school and other expenses are 1/3rd the price of California, there's hundreds more jobs that pay better than anything I was able to get in California, and there's no traffic so I don't waste time sitting in that are probably the biggest ones I bring up. Then I talk to them about the school, my education etc.

I left when I turned 17 to Colorado, then not even 6 months in dipped over to Massachusetts to finish up college and relationship at the time, after that we moved to New York 2 years later. Broke up, moved to Minnesota and then got a job offer for California which was such great money so I moved back, but fuck do I hate living here for more reasons than one. Hopefully lol, things can happen but I really need to leave this state. It's ridiculous that when I was out in Minnesota, I had the option to rent a 5 bedroom house with 1.7 acres of land for $900 a month, where as a 1 bedroom apartment in a decent area in California can be nearing $1700. Plus it's too hot in California and I've never done well with the heat. biggest bit of advice is go with your gut instinct. a lot of the artists work that i saw was dubious and originally i was going to pass them up but i saw one of their pieces that was a bit nicer than the rest so i figured with enough extra money thrown on top it would be a good quality which wasnt a smart idea. pick a price range and find someone who can provide a product that matches what you want. a lot of my issues could have been avoided if i had found an artist with a bit more experience. as far as what i do like about it, it does look pretty accurate which is nice they managed to get most of the proportions right and what not. and its weighty which feels nice

It's actually a strange trend I've noticed. Creators of commissioned content seem to, across large scales, price their content rather sporadically without a particular rhyme or reason. It's *related* to things like quality, or how well known they are, but neither of these things seem to be the determinate factor.

I surmise it is either based on how the creator values their time, or how well they can market. There's not much of a platform to compare and contrast these things since they tend to be rather specific most of the time.

It's a phenomenon I've been casually observing over the years. I got a like 3 or 6 dollar sketch from someone that I know for a fact others would charge 15 or 20 dollars for of similar quality. I need to get more from them, they do cute stuff.
