because they're big and a pain in the fucking ass

Because people have sex whit them

Because we're not Russian faggots

This is actually a quality thread so far

because machines (like women) were designed for the use of men.

Niggers

Because they regularly have seamen all over them.

They go down with regular abandon.
They're expensive to maintain.
And they're generally a pointless waste of time - fun for a little while, then becoming a burden as time goes on.

because till recently, no other female was aboard

because one way or another most of them end up getting fucked

they're extremely temperamental and see the service of hundreds of men in their lifetime

Farewell Brian, I'm off to sea. An hour from now, I'll be surrounded by seamen; sperm whales and seamen. Oooh, a swallow.

Well user, since noone will be legit about this I'll fill ya in. There is two schools of thought on this. One is that because sailors believed that the sea is their mistress the ships are their loves. Two is that because the English and Spanish were the dominant fleets for the world for so long, HMS His/Her majesty Ship. Her ship. Female ship...

They’re property

>OOF

So its just an old English naval tradition

Because ships have very feminine penises.

In proper English, all inanimate objects use 'it'. Using gender for these was from the romance languages, but is considered archaic in English.
It's not just ships. Whenever 'it' feels too impersonal, English speakers always go feminine. The moon, tools, even armies tend to be 'she' when not 'it'.
While this is actually wrong, many; people do it. There are endless theories about how this came about. I subscribe to the idea that it's just humans being human. For some things (my car for example), using the pronoun 'it' just feels to impersonal.

Just look for Kantai Collection and everything will be clear for you
