The intensity varies every time, but they have been getting progressively stronger the last few years.
Last I checked, the current hurricane is a category five, which is the highest existing category.
Also, you'd be surprised how many people don't prepare for them.
Every time there is one, there's a panic as gasoline and generators sell out, because people wait until the last minute to do their preparations.
Then there's your average residents, who get everything in advance, so they just have to set it up.
The select few, like myself, that have been through several, usually do next to nothing because we already know what does and doesn't need to be done.

No, i don't usually stock for the hurricane at all.
I just naturally have enough stuff lying around that it's never necessary.
Category five just isn't that big of a deal to me; hurricanes in general aren't.
I've lost power before, but it's always come back on within two weeks, and I have a generator, so I can shorten that to my liking.
Lack of power leading to lack of air conditioning is really the biggest threat; assuming your house isn't liable to fall over.

There won't be much to tell, but sure.
My most 'interesting' stories are from Charlie and Matthew, but neither were too big of deal to me.
Charlie took out a lot of trees in my area though; that was a really difficult clean-up.

To put Charlie into perspective; my neighborhood was known for having so many trees lining the roads, that the canopy blocked out the sun.
It could be noon, and it would look like the middle of the night.
After the storm, there was maybe 1-2 trees per block.
Texas usually doesn't have to deal with as many hurricanes though, so I'm not surprised a category one there caused major problems.
I know a bunch of Floridians went up there afterwards with airboats to help out because of how bad it was.
