Again, can't speak for the rest of world, but here in Sweden, we never regularly watched sites like Yea Forums or any sites. Worked on hardware brought in to us 80% of the time. 'thorough wipes' that takes hours usually leave behind more than your regular drive fast format does. They might clean some sectors of the drive thoroughly and well, but you can't pick and choose which part, and it's never the entire one.

It only takes fragments of a file to compare to a 'bad' file, and you're in for it. Formats/HDD wipers are usually trash. Partition encrypted flash drives is the nightmare. Healthy but everything shows up as damaged.

At least to my experience! 'oh that that hdd is damaged since years... doesn't work.' I knew it was encrypted, but there was nothing to be done about it. Run BF for a day or two, but same outcome.
