I'm a (new) truck driver and I was supposed to be assigned my own truck today but it's dead as fuck, someone stole the mattress, and it has no wall outlets so I can't plug in my computer to charge everything at once
I haven't received my training pay and I won't get paid for like another 2 weeks and I just had to pay all my utilities and health insurance, because I don't have company coverage yet
So I'll be fined for having not enough money in my savings account if I don't fix it in like a few days
I don't even have an ETA on the truck repairs or reassignment if needed because they don't know whats wrong and can't take it to the dealership until morning and that's not even a guarantee it'll get fixed tomorrow
So for now I'm stuck day to day checking in and out of this hotel (company dime god bless) but I have to carry all my shit everywhere and so you know what it's like to try to neatly pack up your life into a portable size
I have almost nothing and it's still overflowing my duffel bag
My helix piercing is almost healed but apparently it's against dot regulations to have isopropyl in my truck because dunkasses will try to drink it and it gets sore because I can't shower every day

did you not try something like a saline solution? you can get it at most drugstores. isopropyl is going to dry out the tissue which can increase healing times.
by all means, if isopropyl is the only thing that works feel free to stick with it, but it's pretty harsh on healing tissue.
also, it's only 5 months old? "almost healed" is on schedule if not a little fast then, cartilage piercings are notoriously slow.

But so the problem with that is I have a nearly full bottle of isopropyl because I rarely use it and I only use just enough to sanitize and murderize everything and I'm super not allowed to have it on the truck so IDK what to do
I have saline wash but it doesn't deal with the immune response like the alcohol does

I know it's bad for the tissue but my dads a surgeon so growing up every scrape and cut was violently disinfected with either alcohol or hydrogen peroxide
And I get fluid built up around the holes because my body doesn't know how to deal with piercings and the alcohol gets the swelling down
It's not been infected yet so I'm not worried about that too much but it does get sore

medical science has come a long way since then, we pretty much don't touch hydrogen peroxide anymore. it's abrasive to the tissue and slows down clot formation, delaying healing.
saline is the go-to because all you're trying to do is irrigate the tissue real quick and let it do the healing on its own. alcohol is okay if like... you get some nasty shit on it and really need to clean it, but unless there's major signs of infection, saline really is the best bet.

Back at home I would just saline it once a day or every other day to keep it clean and not all body fluids and crusty
But also like my mom has an immune system disorder and they don't think I do but it just goes nuts when I've had my ears pierced

That’s a shame they won’t let you have that just because some people would abuse it, what’s the penalties for “smuggling” it secret agent style around with you for the sake of your own pain? You’re not getting drunk, long as no one sees it, though I completely get rather not worry about any potential hassle of your job. What’s the pain like when your piercing hurts? Like is it a constant irritation all day? It’s good to hear they’re paying for the room but that really sucks to hear. How’s the job training going? Ever had this kinda job before?

The pain is like, it's a little bit sore and it hurts when they get wiggled but if it gets real bad and I catch my head on something or my hair gets caught it's like they're being twisted out
I've finished training and I'm just waiting to get out on my own
I had another job driving a pickup truck and sometimes trailers for an interior design company but this is the first cmv job I've had

yeah, that could be a bit of the issue. surg steel is decent enough for almost everyone, but if you would have a horrible reaction to mystery metal you won't be 100% cool with surg steel either. titanium is pricier but works insanely well for healing piercings. I think niobium is supposed to work really nicely too, but I don't have experience with it.

Here’s hoping once it heals it heals for good since you’ve done a good job of not letting it get infected. Maybe it’ll all work out by the time this job pay situation works itself out. How much do you owe to your savings if you don’t mind me asking, the amount you could get fined over. Any difference; and even though you’re not getting paid yet you still get paid for the training time eventually right?
