i'd say that rader was very smart but made an idiotic mistake to get caught. i'd say the GSK is a better example. he essentially got caught by 23 and me. he would've never been caught if he knew today's technology.

Rader was adaptable and able to adjust his plans. He was also high functioning (able to maintain a job and home life), but he left DNA at nearly every crime scene. He was able to adjust plans when unexpected factors showed up, but I think he was a product of luck and his time mostly. I mean, writing experts thought he failed out of school because of how poorly his letters were written. His wife basically knew what he was and just didn't tell anyone, he regularly claimed to know procedures while blatantly being wrong.

Ted wasn't really that much of a charmer, he would often resort to bashing chicks over the head when they got close enough and just throwing them in his trunk. I knew a guy who struck me as dangerous in this way. Very obsessed with killing animals, not just hunting, but outright cruel. He was stocky, athletic and kind of menacing looking in a weird way, but he was nice and helped me out with a lot of things.

I did kind of know one. This one in fact. I worked in Park City for two years and his arrest happened on the access road outside my store on east 61st. I knew it was going down early that morning but wasn't sure who or if an arrest would be that day but I knew the girl who worked at the library and that morning the FBI had seized all the computers at the library.

I managed a store between his house and his work at the only municipal city building in that little town. He was on his way home for a lunch break and they swooped in and made the arrest. I didn't like know him personally or hang out or anything. I was in my early 20's and just managing a movie place before I joined the IT dept and moved away from Wichita where I lived and commuted the 15 minutes to Park City.
