I think the reason she's annoying is for several reasons:

Firstly, she's suddenly shot into the limelight as a poster-child for activism regarding climate change. The level of media coverage cosying up to her as being this prodigy of progression is insulting to a lot of us that actually are aware and feel like we're being lectured/patronised.

She doesn't really seem to know a great deal other than 'things need to change, dewit...' so she's pretty much become photo-fodder for newspapers/website to plaster to appear that they are supportive.

She is immune to open criticism because to dislike her is to go against the climate change movement. The two can be mutually exclusive, contrary to what people voice on social media.

Whenever a child becomes this proactive/publicised you have to think that there's a really strange/pushy parent behind the curtains pulling strings. It's difficult to trust someone so unexpectedly rising to such exalted status without some of the public feeling suspicious as to the true, not-so-innocent intent behind the scenes.

Her message is true, shit does need to get done, I just feel like the world has had enough of dreamy 'one child's voice can change the world' and actually start sitting the fuck down and getting shit done. Unfortunately it seems like she may be a necessary-nuisance, provided it gets results from the higher-ups.
