when i begin a picture i try to have something specific in mind i havent done or need to work on. whether thats ripples in clothing or backgrounds or perspective its always nice to have a goal in improving something
i would also argue not to worry too much about coloring so much when the line work or anatomy still needs work. the issue is that generally if youre improving, the pictures youre really proud of will look like ass when you go back to look at it after a few months or so, so it can be hard to gauge where youre at sometimes.
