i had to live in a poor part of town in san francisco for a few months, the walgreens - not some mom n' pop cornerstore, the walgreens was fucking filthy, the milk on the shelves was expired, the eggs were pre-rotten, there was a security guard there arguing with homeless people all of the time. damn, man

I've got family that works for Whole (paycheck) Foods. They say that while most people believe that most of their products are organic or locally bought, and confirmed that's mostly bullshit. We did a test on three local grocery stores in Austin and found that the store that you least likey expected to find the most of those kinds of items in actually had the most by almost double. The winner was a Texas grocery chain called HEB. My cousin told me that because Whole Foods has an image of being so organic & local, and that their labor models were fucked, that they have charged a premium for years. All of that has started to change after Amazon bought them and they are starting to play into the pricing wars in markets that they feel they need to play to stay relavent to their customers. You pretty much pay a premium just to say that you shop there as a status symbol. Pretty fucking gay if you ask me, just shows how stupid people are.

I like Whole Foods. Only place unlikely to have niggers and poor people at. Everyone is fun to talk to and staff is super friendly. Never really noticed the prices there.
