Low gain to avoid peak, nobody wants to hear distorted dialog. Put a small compressor on it and throw in a de-esser to cut the highest frequencys. Also a quick EQ can be good if you actually want people to listen to what the hell ur gonna talk about.

It's more than about that, buddy. USB mics also have latency issues and an inherent (but usually subtle) buzzing noise.

this isn't some quest about what to buy because you can't buy the same headset I own anymore short of a clearance bin, and the mic I have was never meant for this application anyway. it was manufactured for use with a cb radio but I wired it up to use in an audio jack.

Get the ATR-2100. I have it myself, and it sounded better than my Blue Yeti, despite only being like $50. Use audacity to edit the sounds and make it better, especially the "noise reduction" feature. And do something unique on YouTube or you'll never fucking make it
