It's because people that commit that sort of thing tend to be mentally ill or have psychosocial problems so severe that learning how to uae firearms properly or with any adequacy is an insurmountable challenge.

The light coloured walls in the foreground are causing the camera to adjust and darken the background to even up and save from overexposing the foreground.
