I think that Holland was hired by Disney, not by Sony, so his contract was with Disney. And if Disney doesn't make more movies, that's it for Holland.

He could feasibly be hired by Sony, but that would be a shit show for them to work around the fact that they can't make a sequel to the marvel movies, even though it's the same actor.

There would just be a huge elephant in the room, and they would sooner just reboot the franchise again, or maybe continue with Garfield.
