Here's why they haven't charged you with anything yet: They are currently trying to find as much incriminating shit as possible on you to racket up the charge to as high as possible. Then they'll give you a choice either accept a plea deal and have you go to prison with a lower sentance, or take it to full on trial but with a much higher sentence if you lose compared to just accepting the plea deal (protip: you will almost certainly lose).
They want you to accept the plea deal becuase they are lazy and you honestly probably should.
