I live in the upper middle class area of the San Fernando Valley. Our neighborhood has celebrities, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Bentley’s etc. I earn about $200k a year and slide by with my family. We have no savings and don’t yet own a home because the loans are getting tougher. We will stick it out for another year.

On a plus note, I have nice cars and nice watches. Going out to socialize is a nightly thing.

Its a homeless, drug, and crime ridden shithole from SFV to Santa Ana. I live about 10 minutes West from the SFV and its a nice area but incredibly expensive.

In downtown, it’s a mixed bag. Lots of hipsters and artsy culture, but also tons of homeless. Similar in Hollywood. Everywhere’s fucked in terms of housing costs. Not all that much to do unless you have means and are a sociable person, but what else is new? Weather’s nice but New York is an obvious upgrade for everything else.

The gangs established truces in skid row to determine who controls which blocks (skid row is about 50 square blocks).
