Don't you think it would make more sense to use pure hydrochloric acid? Vinegar is typically just 5-20% acetic acid, so it's not really ideal for dissolving limestone compared to hydro which eats metal. Why does it have to be an inferior solution like vinegar??

Cause there would be no proof they actually got the stone, just a video of someone pouring vinegar on the ground where the stone was presumably buried. In order to be sure they got it it'd have to be unearthed, which is way too much effort.
