Nine of these were deemed worthy of award and one prizewinning project was finally chosen. On April 7th 2000, the jury voted unanimously for Peter Cook and Colin Fournier’s design. As a video, it was okay, I didn't go to watch a genuine ranking of architecture, but even then, the video was fairly weak compared to his others. Not only that, it came in that awkward point just after a trend has died down where it's seen as an out of touch trend chase rather than doing something because he thought it would be funny, if the video came out a few month down the line I think I would have enjoyed it a bit more.

The Grazer Kunsthaus (art Center) may be unfamiliar, but not ugly. There is also a lot of beautiful architecture in Graz, it is the second most beautiful city in Austria.

If your idea of having sympathy with the surrounding area is building a copy of the classic style facades with modern materials, then sure, it doesn't. But that's usually not the way to go. Also, that appears to be an inner patio of a private institution, not a public space in the city.
Not saying I love it and it's an absolute wonder of architecture, but I don't think it's ugly or an example of bad architecture at all.

Some of them were alright. Even better and more thought of than current lowest common denominator corporate real state apartment buildings. Over time they started to get shiter and smaller tho, but it was kind of the whole point of their ideology that private life should be reduced to the minimum, so only minimal provate living spaces would be needed.

As an ex soviet country resident I hate 90% of soviet architecture. Like they had no imagination. Bad practicality and worse build quality.
