1st it doesn't give the American companies a chance, they need to import the goods because nobody else is supplying enough for America. Which is why you rely on countries to export to you from raw goods to completed goods.

All it does is put up the price from start to finish, and the consumer pays the extra on top, which means more money in tax.

Your last sentence shows a bit of ignorance also, it's Taiwan that has child labour, it is also a hub for human trafficking. There was a bit of child labour in China in 2010 in rural areas which has been mostly stamped out.
