Might as well take out the nail. Will hurt for a moment, but judging by the inflammation you won’t feel much worse than you already do.

Use neosporin or some other otc antibiotic, gauze it up, and give it 6-9 months for the new nail bed to grow in. Redness should go down as the ingrown nail won’t be there anymore.


Make sure you change the dressings regularly, and clean and dry properly after showering or exercising. Wear socks and loose shoes. If it changes color or stinks, go see a doctor immediately.

From my experience, fungal infection is just gonna happen. I've ripped off both big toe nails, both got infected. And I wasn't working at the time, so I let them air completely. Same with my thumbnail, which has a really tiny infection right at the very end of my nailbed.

Luckily all of them have been very minor. Just a cloudy nail. No yellowing or grossness.

Apple vinegar works wonders against nail fungi. You put it on as often as you can. Can put a cut out paper towel on your nail that you keep soaked in Apple vinegar. It doesn't attack the rest of your skin like chemical products might do an dit works in most cases.

I cannot answer that question, I had a small fungi on the left side of my big toe nail and tried with a product I bought at the pharmacy, but that didn't work for me. The fungi came back several times, bacause that product was agressive and it said you should not put it on your skin, so I could not treat the part of my nail that went under the skin at the side of the toe and the fungi always spread back from under there. Then I read about the apple vinegar and tried it and it worked out for me, as I could soak my entire nail with it, without worrying for it to run under my skin.

I had an infection just like that, it hadn't gone that far so i could pull it off tho, but basically what happened was that i went to hospital and they just went in and killed nerves in the toe so the nail never couöd grow again, and then they cut the nail on its sides. No more infection anymore but the nail is a bit deformed lol
