Entomologist here. That's a Southern House Spider, Kukulcania hibernalis.
They're pretty harmless as far as spiders go. Bites are very uncommon and are of no medical significance.
Killing him will give the mosquitoes and bedbugs unfettered access to your house. Sleep tight, blood bank.
