I live in the States. All this talk on the news got me thinking seriously on obtaining a CCW license. I turn 21 next month, so I'm going to try applying and purchasing a handgun. I think the Glock 17 will be fine considering the price and its durability.
I never considered buying a gun before in my entire life. Never. I never liked guns, and I was always a pacifist. I could never hurt another person. But shit is fucked up right now. I have a family, and I can't let anything happen to them if we were ever caught up in a mass shooting. The people I love and I can die because of some fucker that felt like killing people. Fuck that. I can't let that happen if the chance was given.
So, for those of you that have owned a gun, does it help? I never shot one before and I'm afraid to purchase one. I was never anti-second amendment, but I never desired to own a weapon. And now the thought of actually being in possession of a firearm is something I'm uncomfortable with. Knowing that I am actually considering to purchase a tool that can kill disturbs me.
Just be a responsible gun user, unlike the dumbasses who shoot up schools and department stores, and you'll be fine.

I highly suggest the S&W SD9 VE. It's similar to a compact glock in terms of design but is much cheaper. Its chambered in 9mm so it'll get the job done for self defense. Stay safe user. Post updates
