The recession taught them about doing more with less, that's why the jobs didn't come flooding back, the corporations realized how fat they were and have either slimmed down or turned completely halfassed (for instance AT&T spends all it's money on ads, it's actual service is garbage and they view this a legitimate strategy).

The Egyptian wouldn't go to the police because it was "a matter of honor", Israeli guy ended up in prison because my mom called the cops. He got 25 years for attempted murder and died in prison from doing heroin.
