The goal of treatment is to integrate people back into society without their mental health being a danger. The skepticism was understandable before all the massive amount of research we have now was done, but now it's not. The easiest way to make these people happy and have them being productive is to just accept them and support them. You might not like the treatment because it makes you uncomfortable but that's just how it is.
