Im not to knowledgeable on the enlistment requirements. No I would rather be on shore duty. my Rate has more systems its in charge of than almost every other one in the navy and we were out about 9 months last year and another 8 the year before that. this year has been the most I have ever been in port. I also have to be on board the ship every fourth day all day for duty

we once convinced a guy that a majority of the crew thought the world was flat he would get angry enough to try and fight people who tried to tell him otherwise

we have only certain port calls we can go to Australia being a rare one, Yakuska and sasabo (probably fucked the spelling up) japan are common ones due to 688's and other submarines requiring a lot of support and the obvious concerns with security. we get about two or three port calls a year If a submarine Tender like the Frank cable is in another port we can stop there.

Submarines cause depression. Suicidal ideations are as common as colds underway and even when we are in port they are common place if we weren't trying to work our asses off to go home and drink I have known 6 people to attempt suicide in the last year, another good amount have tapped out before they got that far.
