what's the best way to get into space? is it easier to get a job as an astronaut, or to make enough money that you could buy your way to space?

finance a space elevator

It's probably easier to buy your way in.

How deep you need to go, user?

Tie some baloons to a chair and you'll get close enough really.

There aren't many destinations in space right now. The space station is the main one, and less than 250 people have ever been there. It's very unlikely you'll go to space.

i figure with spacex making travel cheaper, it'll only be more available as time goes on. i think we were born too early to have big boy space exploration, but a lifetime is a long time for technology development. maybe we're looking at the start of it.

>make enough money that you could buy your way to space

you have to be selected which requires extensive education and references and then you have to actually undergo training ending in various test to actually qualify you to be an astronaut

>Ansari became the fourth (and first female) space tourist. Her contract did not allow for disclosure of the amount paid, but previous space tourists have paid in excess of $20 million USD. The space craft docked with the International Space Station (ISS) on Wednesday September 20, 2006, at 05:21 (UTC).

20 million is quite a bit to drop.
