He will survive, as a labyrinth fish, he has a rudimentary lung meaning that he can survive in some fairly horrific water conditions.
However, well done on rescuing him. Make sure to give him some plant/decor for cover to keep his stress levels, down and low light for a couple of days.
If you can drop in a bit of melafix it might help him along a bit more quickly too.

Read about it online. It's called the Nitrogen Cycle. Even if the water is crystal clear, you still need to change the water on a regular basis, due to invisible toxic ammonia from respiration and urine of the fish.
