Protestors are a joke. Hundreds of thousands can turn up to chant some slogan that'll be forgotten in 5 months. Begging someone else to do something, where they have the manpower to do everything. But they aren't offering themselves to be managed, they're not discussing what to do, forming a foolproof plan. It's just noise. They're making whatever issue they pretend to care about seem hippie bullshit.
There are actual things to do, noise covers them up, puts attention seekers in charge. Same scumbag ringleaders will show up to any social gettogether to join in and start off nonsensical baaing. If people discuss it it's to congradulate eachother on being unascociated.
People do things for their own self interest. If you show people absolute horror their reaction wont be to stop it, it will be how they can be a part of what is inflicting it, how to get away from it and benefit from it, how to disacocate themselves from what presented it and suffers it.
People like to be treated as good, even act it out insofar as they aren't impaired doing so. But heroes are few. They aren't found in crowds pretending to be making a difference integrating a problem into commonality. If anything it'll be to make sure it doesn't get known, so doesn't gain supporters, defenders. Eliminating or fixing it secondary.

I expect some people originally had some little effort that was growing. Some other people saw it, tried to hijack it, exhaust it, make headlines with it, make the people involved look stupid and so themselves seem more complex, in the hope of appealing to something higher up as well as other sabateurs. On a mission to keep independence impossible because they'd be left out and have constant proof they're inferrior.

Don't consider either that problems change. If they dissapear it will mostly be to avoid attack. Reappearing as effort against it moves away, moves on. Ringleaders likely traitors trying to follow efforts so the next thing can be dismantled before it's highlighted. Issues set up so efforts aren't against what set them up or it's beneficiaries.

These protests are excessively stupid. Anything promoting them is compromised. Caricature villains laughing about it. Not just fools trying to expel their anguish, but people truely thinking it's all a matter of degrading others into slaves to have a sanctuary from it.

If not getting rid of something, then showing people in the past cared too. That's who they are. Something wrong foreign and unusual, sinister. SHOWING WHAT WAS GOOD. Efforts against things may erase what was good, compromising constantly and congradulating eachother on victory. Feeling pride over others who hadn't accomplished as much.
Beautiful if tragic artwork for what suffered is the backbone that saves people from giving up to similar when meeting it. Giving a chance to fight and flight. Life important enough from example to stay your own.
