A while back a bunch of fags decided they didn't like the mods banning their shitty threads so they left to make their own chan. Main difference is much less moderation so the shitposting runs rampant, even by /b standards.

It's kinda dumb that the whole site's DNS was shut down based on what one board did. But to answer your question: it depended on what board you were on. The boards over there were mostly user created and monitored, so the moderation varied. They had better technological features (such as text formatting, multiple file selection, dashboard on the home page). 8 chan's pol board had terrible moderation that led to the El Paso shooting.
