Heres a wild idea, buy a 2 stroke engine and link it to a propeller and set it off and watch it fly away

Heres a wild idea, buy a 2 stroke engine and link it to a propeller and set it off and watch it fly away

how long can it go?

Attached: willitlift.jpg (1976x2116, 194K)

yes

until it runs out of gas or oxygen to continue combustion

I would guess about six feet before it tips over and starts shredding anything or anyone nearby.

until it either a: runs out of gas or b: hits the upper atmosphere and the thin air prevents it from generating enough lift

Hay op you ever wondered why helicopters have tail rotors? That's to stop "autorotation". Go look it up op.

I have a degree as an aviation maintenance technician. It’ll go for about 3 seconds until it flips upside down hits the ground and explodes into hundreds of pieces. Without a stabilization rotor that every helicopter has in it’s tail this contraption will be wildly unpredictable. And inevitably crash and burn
Your welcome

it isn't an issue if it autorotates because it will move only vertically if it is properly centered. The payload on this can spin because it isn't very fragile. Spin-stabilization will keep it afloat.

Wait, it's a generator.
Too much losses.

If the 2 stroke cylinder is spinning the opposite way it will halt autorotation and it will fly

Centrifugal force will prevent the engine from operating correctly

do it pussy

>properly centered

What is wind user?

The propeller will create a wind-tunnel around the engine. Wind won't be a problem.

what will happen with stabilization?

To be fair, I am not very fluent in engine mechanics. I could see an issue with fluids having trouble.
Shouldn't be much of an issue, the base of the rotor won't move much inside of the wind tunnel created by the props directing air downward.

Wind tunnel created by the propeller will keep it stable

0m no fuel.

but the spin of the propeller will act as a top and cause the engine to spin along with it, eventually until they reach the same spin maybe?

The propeller is pushing wind down, but it is also pushing the wind on top of the generator, so in my estimation it will start hyperwobbling

Is the direction of spin in the picture correct? I cannot decide

I did this once with a cordless Dremel tool and a propeller. It took off, and I lost it.

Yea that's probably fin.... wait a minute, if they've got the same spin... what keeps it turning?

are you serious lmao

Nevermind, the propeller will always have more spin due to the power of the engine pistons pushing the propeller at the same rate regardless of the machine.

So if the propeller spins at 50 rpm while engine is 0 spins, if engine starts spinning at 10 rpm, then the propeller will add those 10 rpm for a total of 60 rpm.

The faster itll spin, the quicker in the air it will go as well.

Quad copters all spin in different directions to avoid this. The opposite ends going in different directions will cause the quadcopter to stay still. If it wants to turn, the opposite propellers spinning the same direction just have to spin faster. Or stop the spin of the others

the propeller starst spinning it gets of the ground slightly and then tips over. Thats it

This. I might pay to see this autist contraption go wild in a yard. Niggercopter?

Neva don befoh.

Incidentally, have you had your dose of Adam yet?

>be in 'bama
>rig up 2 stroke bicycle engine with old chain and gear
>pop propeller from neighbors RC helicopter to top
>mount it all to 2x4 I found laying by the garage
>YEE YEE! I scream as I duct tape the throttle to full
>spray paint it camo
>add a confederate flag, call it the "SOUTHERN SPINNER"
>finish beer, pull start and run away
>full throttle kicks in in a half-second, spinning the propeller
>Southern Spinner gets 6 inches in the air until it slams the ground on its side
>rolling and spinning like the old Tycho Tantrum RC
>does this for a half minute until mechanical failure
>small fire breaks out in the yard
>douse it with the rest of my beer
>"one small step for man..." I whisper under my breath
>neighbor is crying because propeller is literally shattered
>fire is still going
>dogs are barking because of commotion
>"....one giant leap for mankind..."
