Really makes me think about how anyone who poses holding up a gun and a holy book while standing against a patriotic background for their respective nationality is a ginormous figgot.

In fact, looking at this picture makes me tempted to dismiss fighting "for" your "values" or "ideals" as a huge fig meme altogether, maybe even one that people deserve to be executed for. Maybe the only three values worth fighting for are self-preservation, preservation of the people you directly associate with, and preservation of a world where no one fights for anything else other than these three values. Maybe I should amass believers to take up a minimalistic banner and philosophy of that nature -- preaching only these three commandments, protect yourself if you want, protect your loved ones if you want, and protect peace excluding such protection, with no religious or nationalist tones, no martyrs, no symbols or history, only this three-column philosophy as a platform and nothing more -- and together, per column three, we'll violently snuff out all more sophisticated or complex value systems, including religions, national agendas, etc, until our simplistic philosophy is all that's left.

It'll be just like crusades / holy wars / whatever, but instead of the demand under penalty of death being "submit to our faith and believe in our god," the demand will be "get along with each other starting immediately and ending never." And it will be immensely hypocritical, because we're doing exactly what we tell them not to do, but that doesn't mean it can't work, who knows maybe it would.

That just means more Jesus for me
