Gloves don't protect us from the pressure of the grip although it does alleviate some of it by spreading it, the main concern is the talons. I've handled Lady Liberty(our bald eagle) she's even landed on my back before. It hurt. Eagles are by far the most ornery and difficult birds to work with.
