it is more than likely paranormal. Especially if you feel like someone is watching you. Another good thing to do is to not devote a lot of energy into believing in the spirit attached to you or your home, the more you do the stronger it grows. Show no fear/attention towards it (besides the sage-cleansing act) and this will also help.

no, they aren't - you just have to be very careful or you'll attract the wrong kind of attention. You should never not be serious when attempting to use one. Disrespecting the wrong spirits will lead to a haunted life.
