The fact that you compare a surgery that involves involvement from a massive multidisciplinary team before even pulling the trigger on to simply slashing someone's risk removes any and all credibility your argument could have had.
To my knowledge as a medical student and near resident, there have been absolutely no studies that showed that transitioning increased rates of self harm and/or suicide. The population of people with gender dysphoria already has an extremely high rate of suicidality, which is easily pointed to by people who oppose gender transitioning, however it's not the transitioning that causes the suicidality, it's that an attempt to save that person failed. If a suicidal person is started on SSRIs and then commits suicide anyway, nobody would blame the pill.

Nobody is arguing that they don't have an increased rate of suicide, the entire question is "does encouraging and facilitating their transition improve, worsen, or have no impact on their rate of suicide?" and the answer, repeatedly, has been that it improves it.
If a patient has a 70% chance of committing suicide before transitioning, then kills themselves after transitioning, it very likely wasn't the transition that led to their suicide; rather it was something inherent to the person.
If you prescribed that person an SSRI and an antipsychotic, started cognitive behavioral therapy to address their sensation that they should be the opposite sex, and tried your best to convince them to feel comfortable in the body they wound up with naturally, they'd still have an extremely high rate of suicide. The entire reason that we facilitate a patient's transition is that studies have repeatedly shown it's the best way to improve their quality of life, which is already typically quite low at baseline.
